Moalboal Sardine Run

A permanent shoal of millions of sardines sits about twenty metres off Panagsama Beach, close enough that snorkellers reach it from shore without a boat.

The shoal moves as one body, folding and reforming around swimmers. Turtles graze the seagrass on the way out, and the wall drops away sharply just past the bait ball.
