Plan a Trip

About CebuFest

CebuFest helps you pick the places in Cebu you actually want to see, turns them into a day-by-day trip, and shows you somewhere to stay near the end of each day. It is an independent project rather than a company, and it is early.

What it does

Cebu is bigger and slower to cross than it looks on a map. Oslob and Bantayan are both “in Cebu” and are a long way from each other, and most trips go wrong at exactly that point — a list of places that were never going to fit into the same week.

So the site is built around one loop: browse places, add the ones you like to a trip, tell us your dates and how hard you want to work, and get back a plan with real times, real travel between stops, and hotels near where each day ends.

How a plan is put together

Your plan is arithmetic, not an AI. Nothing about it is generated by a language model. It is distances, opening hours and the time you said you had, worked through in a fixed order:

  • Your places are ordered by how close they are to each other, starting from the airport, so a day does not zig-zag across the island.
  • They are packed into days against the pace you chose — a relaxed day fits less than a packed one.
  • Within a day, places are ordered by when they close, so you are not sent somewhere after it has shut.
  • Nothing is scheduled to start after 8:00 PM. If a place will not fit, the plan says so instead of giving it an invented time.
  • The same choices always produce the same plan. Send someone the link and they see exactly what you saw.

That is a deliberately boring list, and it is the reason the times on your plan can be taken at face value.

How the hotels are chosen

A hotel suggestion is a geographic decision before it is anything else, so it is made by the same arithmetic rather than by editorial preference:

  • We look for hotels within 15 km of wherever that day actually ends, not within 15 km of the city you named.
  • Those are ranked by distance first, then by how well their price band matches what you asked for.
  • You get at most three of them for a night, each with your dates already filled in.
  • If nothing suitable is within 15 km, the plan says so. We do not widen the search until something appears — a hotel an hour away is not somewhere to stay near your stop.
  • What a hotel pays us is not one of the inputs, and there is no paid placement in these lists.

How CebuFest makes money

When you press Check availability and go on to book, the booking site pays us a share of what it earned. It costs you nothing extra — you pay the price you would have paid going there yourself, and we never see, set or store a rate.

That is the only money the site makes. The affiliate disclosure names every partner we earn from and marks exactly which links are commissioned and which are not.

Where the line is

Earning a commission on hotels raises an obvious question about everything else on the site, so here is the answer to it:

  • No hotel, tour operator or booking site has any say in what we write.
  • Nobody can pay to be recommended, or to be ranked higher in a list.
  • Paid placements exist only as clearly labelled sponsor logos, and those are never mixed into hotel recommendations.

What we do not collect

The site can set five cookies. Two remember a choice you made; the rest count page views and are set only if you agree — nothing is loaded until you do, and refusing is one click. There is still no account to make, no advertising pixel and nothing that follows you to another site. The cookie notice lists every one.

The privacy notice sets out exactly what happens to the one thing we do ask for — an email address, only if you want a copy of your plan sent to you — and the cookie notice lists both cookies by name.

Who makes it

CebuFest is an independent project put together by people who travel around Cebu, not a registered company and not a travel agency. We do not sell tours, take bookings, or handle your money — every booking happens on the hotel or booking site’s own pages.

Corrections are genuinely welcome, and a place we have got wrong is worth telling us about. Write to [email protected].

Where this is up to

CebuFest is new and still being built. The catalog is small, more places and hotels are being added, and parts of the site will change shape as that happens. If something looks unfinished, it probably is.

In short: we plan your trip with arithmetic, suggest hotels by how close they are to you, and get paid by the booking site rather than by you.
