It is the only stay that puts you on the water before the Oslob whale-shark boats leave at dawn — which is the difference between a queue and an empty briefing hut.
About This Hotel
Sumilon is a 24-hectare private island a short boat ride off the southern tip of Cebu, and the resort has the whole of it. Rooms sit low along the ridge, so the walk from bed to water is a few minutes in either direction.
The sandbar shifts around the northern point through the year, which means the beach you see on arrival may not be the beach you see two months later. The marine sanctuary on the eastern side is closed to fishing and is the reason the snorkelling here is better than anywhere else within an hour's drive.

Three hours by car from Mactan-Cebu International Airport to Oslob town, then a 20-minute resort boat from the Bancogon jetty. The last scheduled crossing is at 5:00 PM.
