Moalboal Resorts

Moalboal is a popular dive destination in Cebu, Philippines. This small town is three hours southeast of Cebu City and to get there one can take a leisurely three hour drive through the countryside passing the towns of Naga, San Fernando, Carcar, Barili, Dumanjug, Ronda, and Alcantara. The road is paved and smooth and you will pass through pleasant scenes of mountains and coastal roads.

There are several beach resorts in Moalboal, mainly in Panagsama Beach and White Beach, locally known as Bas Daku. The best ones are found in White Beach, such as Club Serena and Ravenala. Both of them have direct access to the long shoreline and house reef teeming with corals and other marine life. Near the shore is a dramatic sharp drop off where the ledge is. Club Serena is a comfortable resort with decent facilities and rooms from PhP 3000 per night, good for two. It also has a small pool and complete dive facilities. Ravenala is also located along the same stretch but with lesser facilities.

Panagsama beach is where all the touristy and budget resorts are located. Establishments there include Savedra Beach, Tipolo, Dolphin House, and more. There is no sandy beach in Panagsama, and the corals have unfortunately been damaged by a past typhoon. However this is where you find the cheap accommodations and several restaurants including Last Filling Station which serves a mix of western and local fare.

A more upscale resort is Kasai, which is a bit isolated from the others. It does not have a great sandy beach, but It has a swimming pool, good rooms, and a shoreline with sunset view.

All Moalboal Beach Resorts have access to Pescador Island, a dive destination. One can take a half-day island hopping activity that includes diving or snorkling in Pescador and a picnic lunch. Along the way, weather permitting, one might even see dolphins.

Near Moalboal is Badian town which has the Kawasan falls, a multi-layered falls fed by the serene Matutinao river. It makes for a good day trip for those staying in Moalboal.
